It’s about that time of year when permutations become prevalent and Hertha and Freiburg will be focused firmly on the standings as they meet in what is likely to be a crucial encounter at the bottom. While Berlin sit second-last with 27 points, Freiburg are five above them in 13th, making it no surprise to hear Hertha boss Otto Rehhagel talking up Tuesday’s fixture: “We want to deliver a decisive blow against Freiburg.” His SCF counterpart Christian Streich was slightly more reserved, saying: “We’ll go to Berlin with the intention of playing football. We know what to expect. I know Hertha have some big names in attack, but we’re used to playing against individuals of that calibre.” Streich to shuffle Brazilian playmaker Raffael has been pinpointed as the chief threat, while strikers Adrian Ramos, who netted in the 2-2 draw between the sides earlier in the season, and Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Hertha’s top scorer with seven, are also not to be ignored. As for his own team, Streich hinted he would consider changes in order to maintain freshness: “There won’t be a mass rotation, but it is possible that a few players start on Tuesday who didn’t play against Nuremberg.” The Freiburg boss will be forced into a couple of alterations after Julian Schuster broke his nose against der Club , while Cedrick Makiadi is suspended after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in the weekend’s 2-2 draw.
