Augsburg – Markus Weinzierl has been appointed as the new head coach of FC Augsburg. The 37-year-old joins from third tier side SSV Jahn Regensburg and will fill the role left vacant by the departing Jos Luhukay who guided the Bavarian outfit to safety during their first season in the Bundesliga.

Hertha Berlin sacked coach Markus Babbel on Sunday amidst a war of words, while Borussia Moechengladbach remain fourth after their 1-0 win over Mainz on the last German league weekend of 2011.
Berlin – Hertha BSC Berlin have relieved head coach Markus Babbel of duty with immediate effect. Sporting director Michael Preetz informed the media at a hastily-arranged press conference on Sunday.
